View of a number of canopy tents set up in a formation in the Maidan, also known as the Brigade Parade Ground. A number of people can be seen around the tents. Visible in the distance is the Burmese pagoda in Eden Gardens, on the bank of the Hooghly River. One of the arched gateways to the Raj Bhavan, previously known as Government House, can be seen on the right area of the image. The archway is topped with a statue of a lion, flanked with minor gateways that are in turn topped with a statue of sphinxes.
