Interior view down the Grand Salon des Fêtes in the remains of the Hôtel de Ville in the aftermath of the Paris Commune. The hall is lined with Corinthian columns on both sides that support the bare structure of the burned out roof. Piles of bricks and other building materials rest on the ground on the right side of the image. One man stands among the building materials and leans one arm against the base of one of the columns, and two others stand on the opposite side of the hall from him.
