View inside the main prayer room of the Hagia Sophia from the upper gallery, or matroneum. Two large, round medallions featuring the names of Mohammed and Allah written in Arabic flank the apse at the far end of the room. Several pendant chandeliers of different sizes hang low across the first floor of the main room, and both the Hünkâr Mahfili, or sultan's imperial loge, and the minbar are visible below.
