Jupiter, the most powerful of the Roman gods, may be the figure in bust form who heralds the month of November at the top of the page. The zodiacal sign for the month is Scorpio. In addition to the saints celebrated throughout the Christian medieval world, calendar pages also indicated the feast days of local saints. The name of Saint Bernward, the bishop of Hildesheim who founded the monastery of Saint Michael in 1010, appears just below the zodiac medallion in large capital letters.
