Vicompte Joseph de Vigier studied photography in Paris with Gustave Le Gray and became a founding member of the Société Héliographique in 1851. After traveling to Spain and the Pyrenees mountains during the summer of 1853, Vigier published an album of the landscape and view photographs he had made there.
