Beginning in 1852, British photographer Charles Clifford lived and worked in Madrid, Spain. There he became Court Photographer to Queen Isabella, who frequently gave away presentation albums of Clifford's photographs. He produced numerous photographic publications including *Voyage en Espagne* in 1854, which was shown at the first exhibition of the Photographic Society in London, and *Vistas del C
