Composed of eight fragments, preserving the bottom of the cup's bowl and its foot. Between the bowl and foot, a red fillet. The exterior of the cup is black, as is the sloping surface of the underside of the foot. The exposed bottom of the bowl is reserved. Interior: seated man and standing kithara-player. The scene probably covered the entire surface, and a third figure might have been depicted at right. The man at left (part of his head, torso, arms and legs preserved) sits on a block. His legs are wrapped with a himation, and he holds a knobbly stick. The kitharode stands to the right (head, right shoulder and lower legs missing; only the soundbox of the kithara is preserved). He wears a finely-pleated chiton with a decorated neckline and a himation. He holds a plektron that is attached to the soundbox by a cord. A patterned sash hangs from the kithara’s soundbox.
