Portrait head of Antoninus Pius that is unevenly broken through the upper part of the neck and in poor condition. The surface is heavily chipped and worn, and encrustation is visible particularly on the back of the head. The nose, the right side of the mouth and chin, and the left eye area are missing. While the hair that frames the face and neck is rendered in thick, doughy locks and curls, the hair on the top of the head is a smooth, undifferentiated cap. The deep set eyes are framed by thick eyelids, and tear ducts are delineated. The forehead and cheeks are subtly contoured. This bust is a reproduction of the first official type of the emperor.
