The shape of these two large wall lights suggests a vase hung on a real ribbon. Each is decorated with three female masks adorned with feathered crowns and garlands of fruit and flowers, and clusters of oak leaves and acorns are suspended below. The arms of the wall lights sprout vines and grapes. In 1787 the bronze caster Pierre-Philippe Thomire delivered three pairs of wall lights identical to the ones in the Getty Museum to the château of Saint-Cloud for the king's gaming room. Today those wall lights hang in the Petit Trianon at Versailles.
