The thymiaterion (incense-burner) is supported on a tripod base composed of three human legs. The feet are shod in soft leather shoes with high tongues and a bean-shaped button. The angles between the legs at the join of the vertical shaft are filled by pendant palmettes. Rising from the tripod base is a plain cylindrical shaft that supports a shallow bowl with a raised molded and beaded edge, set within a square frame.
