The watercolor shows a golden sunset over Salisbury Plain, with Stonehenge silhouetted on the horizon. Cart tracks criss-cross the lower half of the composition, and a flock of sheep descends a slope to drink at a pool. The sheet dates to the latter part of the artist's career, and shows his command of the use of watercolor in the creation of atmospheric effects.
