One of two non-joining fragments from the krater's lip and the upper section of its neck. The topside of the mouth is reserved, with a red line on the outer edge. The inside of the neck is glazed, with a red line at the top of the neck, and another at a depth of 7.2 cm. The side of the lip is reserved, with a leftward meander between two glaze lines. This fragment preserves a duel over a fallen warrior. A warrior attacks to right (Corinthian helmet, round shield, decorated cuirass, greaves, sheathed sword), thrusting his spear. His opponent (mostly missing) moves to left, carrying a round shield (blazon: star). The fallen warrior lies on his left side on the ground between the two fighthing warriors.
