View of the Confederate earthworks at Fort Fisher, near the Cape Fear River, in North Carolina. Wooden ladders rest on the side of each of the three large, grass-covered mounds, and lead up to platforms where large cannons are positioned. Two men stand at the base of the first mound while a third stands in front of a fence made of large tree trunks on the left side of the image.
