The widow of Sareptha kneels over the pitiful dead body of her young son while the prophet Elijah calls him back to life. In the distance at the right, the miraculously resurrected little boy departs with his mother, his hand clasped in hers. Simon Bening paired this joyous Old Testament event with a parallel event from the New Testament, the Raising of Lazarus, on the facing page.
