Description: Design half cast, half incised postcasting. Molded in the shape of a crested peacock with curved beak; the whole body is decorated with a design representing feathers. Flat wick-hole area surrounded by raised edge. Basin has extant oval hinged lid, resting on a finely beveled edge. Nozzle on bird's tail. Low relief of folded legs seen on both sides. Raised cylindrical slightly spreading base has bottom horizontal molding; square cavity in the hollow interior for attachment to the raised spike of a stand, a common feature in this lamp type; no spiked stand is included.
