This wine vessel is historically important for its six-character inscription: “Duke Bei X made this precious ritual zun.” After conquering the Shang, the Zhou founder divided the former capital into fiefs, including Bei. Rare bronzes bearing this title, including this example, provide valuable evidence for identifying the rulers of Bei and understanding early Western Zhou political organization. China, Asia
