Unlike the more traditional style of desk and bookcase with a slant front, this example has a drawer that pulls out to reveal filing compartments and a writing surface. The berry rosettes crowning the broken pediment and the delicate diamond inlay on the center of the cornice were popular design motifs in the Salem, Massachusetts area. United States, Americas
