Men created riding quirts, and they were used to make a horse go faster, as well as a weapon during battle. The zig-zag design of the quirt may reference the jagged edges of lightening. Many tribes reference this importance force in their artworks, which pay respect to the natural world around them. Apsáalooke (Crow), United States, Americas
