Snake mummy

A snake mummy in a rectangular package with rounded ends. The mummy was wrapped in several textiles of different qualities, kept in place by a loose weave bandage, wrapped around the perimeter of the package. The upper part is covered by a tightly woven cloth and on the top is a small, thin fragment of cartonnage. This is now green and yellow and might have also been inscribed. A neatly folded perimeter bandage runs around the edge, securing the shroud. A fragment of bandage was found in the modern packing related to this mummy but might not be actually related to the mummy. The package contains a snake that is coiled around itself in almost a double figure ‘8’. The neck is broken, and the head is damaged. The skin is present almost on the whole animal.
