The custom of presenting a medallion to commemorate a wedding was widespread in the 17th century. Such medallions were sometimes kept in a specially made box. The lid of this box is embellished with marriage symbolism. Simple engraving, as found here, was probably not done by a specialist, but by the silversmith himself.
The authoritative record is held by Rijksmuseum. LinkedCulture surfaces this object and its connections; it does not alter institutional metadata.
