The bodice is embroidered with leaf-shaped beads in a diamond shaped pattern. A large turquoise bead is sewn into the corner of each lozenge. The motif seems to have been inspired by the ornamentation that the Russian goldsmith Carl Fabergé used on his precious Easter eggs. The designer Jeanne Lanvin was renowned for her innovative and lavish beaded and patterned embroidery.
