Christian Dior launched the ‘New Look’ in 1947, with pronounced female forms as its distinguishing feature. The hourglass figure is quite distinct here. The nipped-in waist is accentuated by slit pockets at the hips and a tapered placement of the buttons. Mrs Brusse also chose the ensemble because of its name: Urtebise, her maiden name.
