Isabelle and Gooitjen Stinstra commissioned these two biscuit boxes as a gift for their uncle and aunt, who had served as their guardians for several years. During the latter half of the 18th century, desserts became increasingly important, leading to the creation of new objects like these biscuit boxes. The round box was intended for rusks, while the rectangular one was designed for elongated wafers known as ‘oublies'.
