The edge of this large dish is decorated in Imari colours – blue, black, red and gold. However, the decoration, incorporating garlands of leaves and shells, are entirely European in character, as is the central scene. The quality of the painting is extremely high, and it has been attributed to Adriaan van Rijsselbergh, the most important painter at De Grieksche A.
