This bed may have been made for Johan Werner van Pallandt and his Eerde Castle in Ommen. Daniël Marot published several designs for splendidly ornamented beds. The shape of this one, however, is somewhat plainer. The greatest attention was lavished on the sumptuous fabrics, in particular the embroidered Chinese silk of the bed’s headboard and head curtain.
