In earlier times children were dressed as adults from the age of three or four. The cut of this damask boy’s coat is similar to that of men’s coats in the same period. The jacket is close-fitting. In addition, the sleeves are set in far back and cut in a curve. Consequently, the youngster could hardly move his arms in it.
