Tobacco jar by J. Schiotling, silver, 1787 C.R.T. Krayenhoff and A. Paets van Troostwijk received a tobacco jar in 1787 from the French Royal Academy. It was a prize for their entry to a competition on the question of the advantages of electricity. Krayenhoff was later to play a major role in the political upheavals of 1795. He held important administrative posts in the national defence and water management.
