Piet Heyn ewer
- Date
- c. 1550 - c. 1600
- Medium
- silver (metal)
- Institution
- Rijksmuseum
According to the inscription in Dutch under the foot of this silver ewer, it ‘comes from the [Spanish] Silver Fleet that Sir Lieutenant-Admiral Piet Heyn captured on 6 September 1618’. These details were engraved later, and a mistake was made over the date. The year 1618 is incorrect: it should read 1628.
