From the Rijksmuseum record
Prize medal silver, 1778 Awarded by Teyler's theological society - Godgeleerd Genootschap - to the winner of a competition. Teyler's society was named after Pieter Teyler van der Hulst. This wealthy Haarlem silk manufacturer had stipulated in his will that his fortune be used for the foundation of two societies: a theological society and one focusing on the arts and sciences.
