In his print series Giandomenico Tiepolo tried to portray all that could have taken place on the flight into Egypt, about which nothing can be found in the Bible. In the series Mary, Joseph, and their child are constantly accompanied by two angels who assist them in every possible way on their journey. The prints have a dreamlike, fairy-tale character.
