During the night of his arrest, Christ withdrew from his disciples – here seen sleeping in the background – and prayed most earnestly, knowing the pain he was about to endure. The light here shining on him from the crevice comes from the angel who appeared from heaven to console him. This is one of the independent drawings that Jan Pynas made shortly before his death.
