In deze psychologisch zeer complexe tekening spreekt de lichaamstaal van koning David boekdelen. Hij wordt gekweld door schuldgevoel, en zou het liefst weglopen om niet te hoeven horen welk nieuws de bode hem komt brengen: Uria is aan het front gesneuveld. David had hier persoonlijk voor gezorgd, zodat hij met Uria’s vrouw Bathseba kon trouwen. Rechts staat de profeet Natan klaar om David te berispen.
