The sadness of leave-taking is central in this scene. Accompanied by his bride, Sarah, Tobias is about to leave his homeland to cure his blind father, Tobit. He is embraced by his beloved fatherin-law, Raguel. At the right, Sarah and her mother stand together for one last time. At the left, Tobias’s companion – the Archangel Raphael – and his little dog are ready to go.
