From the Rijksmuseum record
Carrying her baskets full of goods, the cherry seller goes from door to door. She meets with success at this house. The finely dressed occupant holds up a handful of cherries, for which her little daughter eagerly reaches. This sunny, colourful scene by the Dordrecht painter Van Strij exudes a pleasant atmosphere. The harmony is disrupted only by the dog, which has frightened the cat.
