Myson worked in Athens in the period from 500 to 475 B.C. decorating vases in the red-figure technique. He appears to have learned his craft in the workshop of one of the Pioneers, perhaps Phintias. His one surviving signature is on a krater dedicated on the Athenian Akropolis; it indicates that he was both a potter and a vase-painter.
