A thoughtful post about LinkedCulture from the French museum innovation community pushed me to publish the next experiment sooner than planned.

LinkedCulture now has a first multilingual test page: semantic search in French across more than 50,000 Getty open-access records, indexed with a multilingual embedding model.

It is intentionally limited to one collection for now. That keeps the test focused: real metadata, French queries, public interface, and measurable behavior.

That main index currently covers six museums and more than 220,000 open-access objects in a primarily English semantic search index.

The goal is not to replace museum catalogues or turn collections into chatbots. It is to test whether open-access metadata, embeddings, and vector search can support better discovery by meaning, material, symbol, mood, and visual idea.
