Feuille d'Eau means "waterleaf" and refers to the name given to the shape of this vase at the Sèvres factory. In English, waterleaf is the common name for a plant with bell-shaped flowers. The term is also applied to a stylized plant motif used in Graeco-Roman ornament. This vase was exhibited by the Sèvres firm at the International Exhibition held in London in 1862.
